Digital cytology is a digital cytopathology service. It involves digital image transfer of a whole slide image (WSI) to boarded clinical pathologists. The clinical pathologist will perform a microscopic evaluation of the WSI looking at individual cells or groups of cells to determine their origin and any changes characteristic of disease.
With Vetscan Imagyst, the benchmark turnaround time for digital cytology results is next day by 8 a.m. (Standard Review) or within hours (Urgent Review).

Digital cytology image transfer can be utilized to examine the same tissues and fluids as traditional cytology.
The tissues that can be examined include:

- Musculoskeletal (e.g., muscle, bone, joints)
