Fluid errors

The HM5 is designed to be able to detect when the various fluids from the Reagent Pack are not being consistently delivered. If the analyzer detects bubbles in the lines, or empty lines, a popup warning will display on the screen. These messages may be accompanied by another warning which states the Fluid Sensors have been turned off.

  • There are 5 different fluids in the Reagent Pack, Diluent (green), Lyse (yellow), Cleaner (blue), Rinse (white) and Lyse2 (orange).
  • The popup message will name the fluid.
  • When looking for issues with a certain fluid, pay special attention to that particular line. In this instance, it is green.
  • The bottles drain at different rates depending on the species being tested, so the fluid could still be empty even if the reagent pack feels heavy. If bottle is less than ½ inch full of fluid, change the reagent pack.
  • An empty tube and a full tube can look very similar if no droplets or bubbles are visible. To make sure there is fluid in the line, detach it from the back of the analyzer and check to see if fluid drains back to the bottle or drips out of the line.

  • If bubbles are found, check the connections at each end of the reagent line.
  • Give the tubing a little tug at the back of the analyzer and at the connection points to the bottle cap and/or dip stick. If the tubing comes off easily and cannot be securely attached, a new set of tubing should be purchased. If the tubes stay on firmly when tugged, open the door on the back of the analyzer to check other connection points.
  • Detached and loose tubes can be hard to find. Each of the white boxes at the top of the backdoor area should have three tubes attached (except for the number 10 box, which only has two). Look for a tube that is either only partially on or completely detached.
  • Firmly and completely attach any loose or disconnected tubes. If more than one line is disconnected, contact Zoetis Diagnostics Technical Support to ensure the lines are routed correctly when replaced.
  • Check where the tubing connects to the pumps. If tubing is damaged or the attachment point is broken, contact Zoetis Diagnostics Technical Support at 1-888-963-8471 or dxsupport@zoetis.com.
  • If a loose or detached tube is found and attached to its connection point, select Prime from the Warning Page. If the issue persists afterwards, call Zoetis Diagnostics Technical Support.
  • If no bubbles are detected in the reagent lines or in the backdoor area but the error message continues after selecting Prime once, please call Zoetis Diagnostics Technical Support for help adjusting the tubes between the sensors.
